{1x00} Prologue: Dreams on Fire

Welcome to The Warlock Chronicles, I'm glad to have you read my work! Allow me to explain the purpose of this blog and the story. I first came up with The Warlock Chronicles during one of my many pacings (I pace. Alot.) I would go into a lengthy schpeel however it would be a rather annoying and potentially a waste of time on your part. Instead I shall let thee read the Prolouge of the First Volume of this journey....
----------------------

I turned to see the blazing fire decimating the once nearly flawless looking school. The Fire was massive and seemed to sway majestically, I knew that if I went in there I would most likely die within the flames, but I had to go in. She was still in there, trapped. She needed me.
I ran straight at the flames passing through with relative ease. inside it was strange, nothing was burned. It was as if the fire couldn't burn the inside, or the fire hasn't ruined this place yet. Whichever it was, I had to be on my guard.

the halls were cold, freezing even. I could feel the temperature drop as the seconds rolled on. I heard a voice crying out in pain.

I took off running towards the source as if the fire was chasing after me, suddenly I stopped. This hall, it was blazing hot. Literally. The fire had consumed most of this space, it surrounded and seeped out from the doors and spread sporadically in the hall.

She cried out again.

Like a foolish hero, I made my way through the fire and towards a door that was not yet entirely engulfed by flame. I could see her on the other side, the panic on her face. I told her to step away from the door, I backed up and ran straight at the door. I thought that I would have slammed into the door before busting it down, instead I passed right through it and fell on the ground in the room.

I stood up and looked around, she was nowhere in sight. I walked towards the windows. somehow, they were intact, I could see the flames engulfing the building and the people watched me with horror yet none dared to move. Something compelled me to put my hand on the glass. my hand seared with pain but I couldn't pull it away. I felt my skin burn like paper. I screamed in agony until finally my hand detached itself from the glass.

The skin on my hand looked ashen, In some areas on it I could see bone. I got up, making my way towards the door and tried the doorknob, no such luck. I peered through the glass on the door, She was standing on the other side, She looked at me with a blank stare. I asked her to let me out. she let a smile dance across her face for a brief second and turned away.

At that moment, the fire behind the windows blew through the glass. I screamed after her, yelling at her to come back. the fire spread around the room. I could feel it surrounding me, it edged closer snapping at my ankles. I tried to yell at the top of my lungs but no sound came out. I pounded at the door as the fire climbed up my legs. Frantic, I clawed at the door, finally feeling the suffocating smoke. My eyes shut tight, the fire enveloped me and I screamed like hell.

"Aaron wake up! Wake up" a woman's voice shouted.

Aaron's eyes snapped open and he sprang up in his bed "Fire! I was on fire! The school was burning, and I
went in to save her! I couldn't save her."

The woman sighed and spoke one word, "Alice"

"Yea." Aaron panted, " She was trapped inside the school and I went in to look for her but I was trapped in a room, I felt the fire burn my skin."

"You can't keep blaming yourself for what happened, no one not even you could have saved her. You gotta believe that, It's not your fault"

"Bullshit. The fire was started because of me, because someone was trying to target me by attacking the school and the people I cared about."

The woman sat down beside him. putting her hand on his shoulder, she stared at him fiercely with her intense green eyes before saying, "You can't change what's meant to be, and you can't save everyone. As much as everyone wishes they could we're not Gods capable of tampering with Destiny."

Aaron turned to face her, "I felt my skin burn. Faith, I felt the heat from the fire."

Faith's expression became one of worry, but she quickly hid it behind her confident smirk, "It's probably because you closed all the windows, It's so stuffy here. You're probably parched too, want me to get you a glass of water?"

Aaron nodded absently and Faith made her exit. Aaron rubbed his eyes and walked over to his hall mirror. His body was dripping with sweat, as if he had jumped out of a pool. he reasoned that was why she went to get him a glass of water. He winced when his hand brushed up against his clothes. He turned on a light to see what made his hand hurt, when he saw it he was shocked. Burned, his hand was burned.

Aaron's eyes widened. this was impossible, it was only a dream after all, there's no way that could be real. Not long after turning the light on the burns seemed to heal instantly, until it was as good as new. He examined his hand closely, obviously baffled by this strange phenomena. True he was no stranger to unusual things but this was unusual even for a Warlock.

A Warlock, a few years ago he just thought that was a term used for a male witch, but in reality it was so much more than that. A Warlock was the term used for males gifted with extraordinary demonic powers in order to fight the many evil entities roaming the world. Aaron had lived a pretty normal life, went to school, had friends, family, all the usual, but everything changed when Faith found him.

Faith was what was known as a Tracker, one of many people around the globe devoted to saving the world from evil much like Warlocks. Another mission, is to find and train Warlocks. Faith was Aaron's Tracker. She had found him and explained to him all about Warlocks, Trackers and Demons. At first he had brushed her off but when a Demon had attacked him not long after he immediately joined her in the fight against evil.
Together they were a great team. Close, too close sometimes, they were almost like the best of friends. Which, Aaron's parents were slightly concerned about (after all he was a minor and she was 26). They believed she might get him into some trouble.

Of course they were partially right. A few Months ago, a demon had decided to lead his followers to Aaron's school and burn it down with him in it. Thanks to Faith, Aaron was able to evacuate the students. Or rather, most of them. One student was left trapped inside. Her name was Alice, she was a friend of Aaron's.
This event devastated Aaron. he had lost one of his best friends. although, he wasn't given much time to process this loss. Faith, already sensing the danger the media could bring so she packed a few clothes and ran away with Aaron. Hoping to escape the media, they traveled as far away as they could until ending up in Roseville, CA.

Here, Aaron and Faith were able to start over. posing as a Single mother and her teenage son, Aaron, they were able to find a place to stay and enroll Aaron in a new school. He hoped this one was less flammable.
Aaron was interrupted by a soft knock on the door.

"Come in"

Faith walked in holding a tall glass of water and handed it to Aaron. He downed the whole glass in a matter of seconds.

"Refreshing?" Faith inquired.

"You have no idea" Aaron gasped.

Faith spoke again, "Are you gonna be OK?"

"I should be fine for school tomorrow. I know that's what you meant."

"Well I meant are you OK in general, but yea I don't you to miss your first day of school."

"I just hope no one tries to start a bonfire using the school."

"the odds of that happening are slim, I haven't seen or heard of any Demon activity"

Aaron shot her a coy smirk, "just because we can't see them doesn't mean they're not among us, and people like us have a tendency to attract trouble"
